Orange County UCCI Institute - $450 Stipend - DM/English

Teachers/professors who are accepted by UCCI will receive a $450.000 stipend in recognition of their contributions.  

What is the Orange County UCCI Institute?
In order to develop high quality, "a-g" approved courses that integrate core academics and CTE, the University of California formed the Curriculum Integration Institute in 2010. The University of California Curriculum Integration (UCCI) courses that integrate the real world experiences of CTE with core academic content will greatly benefit our efforts to effectively implement Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. The Orange County Department of Education has been selected as one of the first in the state to host a regional Institute.  March 24-26 , National University, Costa Mesa, CA


We Need You! 
The UCCI model for curriculum development is based on creating teams consisting of three Core Academic and three Career Technical Education teachers. Working with UCCI trained facilitators, the teams will collaborate to develop a-g approved CTE courses that incorporate standards-based academic content into a relevant and engaging project based learning format. We are seeking Orange County teachers with the vision and will to create courses that can our enhance our efforts to promote College and Career Readiness for all students. Sub costs will be covered by the ?Orange County Career Pathways Partnership (OCCPP) grant.
  


What Courses Will We Be Developing?
Based on preliminary input from Orange County teachers, we are hoping to recruit teachers to participate in developing the following courses: 
1.     Engineering integrated with Lab Science, to be approved in the Lab Science ("d") subject area for UC.
2.     Engineering integrated with Math, to be approved in the Mathematics ("c") subject area for UC. 
3.     Engineering integrated with History/Social Science, to be approved in the ("a") subject area for UC.
4.     Engineering integrated with English, to be approved in the English ("b") subject area for UC.
5.     Biotechnology integrated with Biology, to be approved in the Lab Science ("d") subject area for UC. 
6.     Digital Media Arts integrated with English, to be approved in the English ("b") subject area for UC. 
7.     Health Care/ Biotechnology integrated with Math, to be approved in the Mathematics ("c") subject area for UC. 


How Can I Participate?
If you are interested in collaborating with colleagues from across the region, you need to complete the on-line application. Your application will be reviewed by UCCI staff who will make the final decision on participants.
