Community College Cyber Summit (3CS)
Addresses the Need for Cybersecurity Education ASAP
The emphasis of cybersecurity throughout the nation’s critical infrastructure makes the community college’s role even more relevant. The 2nd Annual Community College Cyber Summit (3CS) will address how to rapidly expand and enhance cybersecurity programs in community colleges on June 17th -19th at the College of Southern Nevada. 3CS is the only national academic conference that specifically addresses cybersecurity education in community colleges.

Community Colleges are on the forefront of our national response to the workforce shortage of cybersecurity specialists. It’s long been known that community colleges are uniquely equipped to rapidly respond and put new programs in place that result in making a huge difference in the workforce. The close-knit relationships that community colleges have among businesses and industries continue to assist educators in developing curriculum to match our nation’s ever-changing cybersecurity needs.

"While our nation begins to wake up to its cybersecurity vulnerabilities and challenges, community colleges are beginning to recognize the opportunities we have to help provide cybersecurity solutions,” states Dr. Robert Spear, Chair for 3CS, “We have strength in numbers. By working together, the nation's community colleges can provide the cybersecurity technicians that are so desperately needed."

The outcome of 3CS will facilitate student success through education and career advancement, as well as addressing concerns about information systems and communication networks vulnerability to terrorism and other disruptions. Faculty, administrators and students involved in cybersecurity education are encouraged to attend. The networking opportunity of 3CS leverages community college faculty into the next phase of cybersecurity education. The information learned will not only influence future cybersecurity curricula but will give everyone that attends an educational advantage.

3CS is organized and produced by the National CyberWatch Center, National Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA), CyberWatch West (CWW), Cyber Security Education Consortium (CSEC), and Advanced Cyberforensics Education Consortium (ACE), all funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The outcomes of 3CS will leverage community college’s cybersecurity platforms across the nation by introducing the latest and greatest of technologies, best practices, curricula, products and more.
