CCC EPI Team Moves Forward With RFPs

WRITTEN BY SANDOVAL CHAGOYA  TechEDge

CCC Education Planning InitiativeFollowing on the recent release of a software development request for proposal (RFP), work groups of the California Community Colleges (CCC) Education Planning Initiative (EPI) are drafting three additional RFPs to be released later this fall.
The team is also working on the further development of C-ID, Curriculum Inventory, ASSIST 2.0, and eTranscriptCA. These projects are focused on improving existing products for the CCC system within the next year.
Additionally, the initiative welcomed David Shippen to the team as the new Statewide Program Director. Shippen, MPA PMP, brings a wealth of knowledge and more than 25 years of experience in IT project management supporting federal government programs.
Current activity within the EPI is centered on identifying potential vendors and procuring the technology and services needed to build a systemwide Student Services Portal and the portlets that will be made available to anchor the portal. Portlets are the applications accessible through the portal that will provide information related to CCCApply, financial aid and services for students. Having such services easily accessible in one location is expected to make the transition to college easier for students, and help current CCC students plan and track their educational paths more efficiently.
The EPI Steering Committee is scheduled to meet next on October 15.
