ICT Prominent in California EDD Standardized Industry Economic Analysis (REA) Profiles

The Labor Market Information Division (LMID) of the California Employment Development Department created standardized Regional Economic Analysis (REA) Profiles as guides to help build workforce partnerships, support strategic planning, identify top industry clusters and occupations, and focus on future job opportunities.

In April 2014, the California REA Profile was introduced.  ICT is the 6th largest industry cluster listed, by industry employment.

The San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Lake, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma Counties) REA Profile was recently released, and ICT is the 2nd largest industry cluster by industry employment in the Bay Area.

The Southern California (Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura Counties) REA Profile was also recently released.  ICT does not make the top 10 industry list for southern California.

These reports detail top occupations within the ICT industry cluster.

MPICT is pleased and grateful for EDD's excellent work on these reports.

In the future, we hope to encourage EDD to also examine ICT as an important employment cluster across all industries in California.  ICT workforce is increasingly essential to all kinds of organizations, in every industry, and there is high occupational demand within most industries for people with ICT skills.  ICT might well make the top 10 list in southern California within that view.

Nice work!
