OEI To Help Students Earn Transfer Degrees
The Online Education Initiative (OEI) is a far-reaching, $57 million state-sponsored project that launched in December 2013. The first allocation was $16.9 million, and $10 million is slated to be forthcoming each year over four more years.

OEI Issues Invitation To Pilot Colleges
Pilot colleges are being sought for an Online Education Consortium that will help drive the California Community Colleges’ Online Education Initiative (OEI) through its initial stages.

Representatives from each of the pilot colleges will work with the OEI Steering Committee to develop online programs and courses, policies, services and procedures to help students complete the Associate Degree for Transfer more efficiently.

The CCC Online Education Initiative Vision: How Did We Get Here?
The recent conversation and disruption caused by the proliferation of massively open online courses (MOOCs) combined with a huge loss of course availability for students in the economic wasteland of the past few years shifted attention to the promise of access for our students via virtual means. The attention by and the subsequent conversations with the governor’s office brought us money from our state budget to provide increased access to online courses for students.

OTC’14 Conference Program Update
Attendees of next month’s 2014 Online Teaching Conference are invited to attend a welcome reception on Friday, June 20.

The reception will be held from 4:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Pacific Ballroom at the conference hotel. This is a great opportunity to unwind from an exciting first day of OTC, network and chat with colleagues, and enjoy fabulous food and drinks.

There’s still time to reserve your spot for this year’s conference. Standard registration is open until 5 p.m. on June 6. Hotel rooms are available at the state per-diem rate until May 29 or until they sell out.

3C Media Expands Beyond Video Hosting
Expanding its video repository service, 3C Media Solutions announced a new offering designed to make storing and sharing other types of documents easy.

Called My Files, the service lets you upload a variety of file types to your 3C Media Solutions account. My Files supports .jpg, .gif, .ppt, .doc, .mp3, .flv, .xls and many other formats while providing the same organizational options already available with the My Videos service.

OEI’s Ittelson Inducted Into Distance Learning Hall Of Fame
Dr. John Ittelson, acting associate executive director of the California Community Colleges Online Education Initiative (OEI) Launch Team, was recently inducted into the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) 2014 Hall of Fame.
