San Jose State US Cyber Challenge Cyber Quests Camps


San José State University (SJSU) is hosting a series of exciting events aimed at increasing the capacity of the regional Cybersecurity workforce. We are currently recruiting event participants, particularly for the April 5th and 26th USCC Cyber Quests Preparatory Day camps (see below). We would greatly appreciate your assistance in disseminating this information within your networks. 

Upcoming opportunities include:

SJSU Cyber Quests Prep Day Camp 1: On April 5th, 2014 (8:30 am-5:30 pm), SJSU will host a day camp where participants can learn the key skills required to score well in the April US Cyber Challenge Cyber Quests (see below). Instructional sessions will tentatively cover Wireshark, Web Security, Firewalls, and other topics. Top Cyber Quests scorers will earn a spot in the Western Regional Cyber Challenge Summer Camp to be held at SJSU in August 2014. Participants will be required to bring their own laptops.

Registration deadline is March 31st, 2014. 

SJSU Cyber Quests Prep Day Camp 2: On April 26th, 2014, SJSU will host a second day camp covering special topics not addressed in Day camp 1. Attendance at Day camp 1 is not mandatory for attendance at Day camp 2. Topics to be covered will be published soon.

April US Cyber Challenge Cyber Quests: Cyber Quests is an online cybersecurity competition. Top scorers earn a spot in the Western Regional Cyber Challenge Summer Camp—held at San José State. Register for Cyber Quests starting on April 2. More information on Cyber Quests can be found at uscc.cyberquests.org.

US Cyber Challenge, Western Regional Cybersecurity Summer Camp: SJSU will host a weeklong boot camp for top Cyber Quests competitors. Participants will work with leaders in the field and learn how to evaluate network security and gain firsthand experience detecting intrusions through simulated attacks. Participants will compete for additional prizes and recognition and meet with representatives from major technology companies and government agencies.
