Here’s a little pre-holiday cheer for IT professionals: In Robert Half Technology’s most recent hiring index, 16 percent of CIOs surveyed said they plan to expand their IT teams in the first half of 2014 – that’s up from 11 percent in the previous six months.
Why the increase? Many firms will begin to add IT jobs, and fill other non-tech positions, in the new year as business initiatives launch. And some IT managers may have been given approval to increase headcount in 2014.
Also, it probably doesn’t hurt that the tech sector is faring better than some others, partially because organizations rely on technology to keep their businesses up and running.
Hot IT Jobs: Windows, Help Desk and Network Professionals in Demand
Some IT jobs are harder to fill than others: CIOs said it was most challenging to find technology professionals with experience in areas including Windows administration, help desk / desktop support and networking.
