Seeking ICT Faculty to Serve as IT/IS Curriculum Evaluators for C-ID System

California Community Colleges are currently seeking faculty interested in serving on behalf of the Information Technology and Information Systems discipline as Course Outline of Record Evaluators (COREs) for the Course Identification (C-ID) System.

This system is mandated by California law to improve articulation and transfer pathways between CCCs and CSUs.

As COREs, you will be active in reviewing submitted community college courses and assigning appropriate C-ID designations to those courses - a process facilitated through the C-ID website.

Please note that you must be a full-time faculty member with curriculum experience.  In addition, familiarity with reviewing courses for articulation is desired.

If you have an interest in taking a role within your discipline as a CORE, please respond via email.  We will need to seek approval from your local Senate President.

Since the IT/IS group is substantially influenced by both the IT and the Business disciplines, it would be very helpful for instructors to have both an IT/CS/CIS and a Business background. We need faculty with expertise in the following technical domains.

  • Programming & Application Development
  • Database & Information Management
  • Servers, Storage & Virtualization
  • Networking & Convergence
  • Client Computing & User Support
  • Digital Media & Immersive Technology
  • Information Systems Security

An ideal background could include degrees in Business Administration with a Management Information Systems or Information Systems concentration or a Computer Science bachelor's degree combined with an MBA or business experience, but since, as you know, our field offers a great diversity of degrees I would certainly be more than happy to talk with interested colleagues who have technical and business experience and expertise in one or more of the above areas.

I hope that this information will be useful in your efforts to help us recruit IT/IS COREs, and I thank you in advance for your assistance. Please let me know if you need any clarification or additional information.

Sincerely,
