Why should you register early for Grace Hopper Celebration 2012?

Grace Hopper Convention News
July 10, 2012

Registration is open for 2012 Grace Hopper Celebration in Baltimore. Early bird rates are still available through July 31, 2012.  We are expecting a record breaking number of attendees this year again so reserve your space as soon as you can.  There are special rates for Technical Executive Forum, students and speakers, and also for those who identify themselves as transition (unemployed or personally paying for airfare and hotel expenses).  And this year, we have a great new incentive for faculty.  For every 5 students a faculty coordinates to attend Grace Hopper this year, that faculty receives a free conference pass.
We know budget is always a concern not just for students, faculty and those in transition, but for technical women in the field who may have to pay their own way to the conference because their companies, for whatever reason, are not funding their attendance at the Grace Hopper Celebration. In our recent research, Solutions To Recruit Technical Women, the Grace Hopper Celebration is identified as a great outreach opportunity for companies to build a pipeline for recruiting technical women, professional associations and programs. The research paper a great resource to take to your company to advocate for your attendance and how it can benefit not only you, but your organization as well. In an upcoming post, we will go in-depth to provide tips and advice for how to convince your manager to send you to the conference.
For those of you who are in transition and unemployed/next career path, or if you are a student looking for your next internship opportunity, register early. GHC’s Career Fair will be just as fabulous as years past, with over 110 organizations expected. All sponsors will have access to the resume database before the conference and may reach out to you before October to schedule a time to meet at the conference.  This will give you plenty of time to prepare and maximize your job search at GHC Career Fair.
Finally, taking advantage of early bird rates will help you plan your budget for the conference. Check out our Registration page for more information on rates, cancellation policy, and meal budget.  And for those who need it, as always, GHC has free child care available, but you have to sign up in advance.  Registration closes September 30, 2012 or earlier if it sells out.  So plan ahead and register early.  See you there!
