IT Broadband Commission Declares Broadband Communications a Basic Universal Human Right

"International Telecommunication Union Secretary GeneralHamadoun Touré wants to see to it that every citizen in the world has access to broadband. In a conversation with Forbes editor Randall Lane during Techonomy 2011 in Tucson, Ariz., Touré explained why his agency’s Broadband Commission two weeks ago declared broadband communications a basic universal human right – on the list now with the right to food, health, and housing.
“The right to communicate is a basic human right, and I believe that putting that on every national agenda is very important,” Touré said."
