National Cyber League (NCL) Fall 2012 Pilot Announcement

National Cyber League (NCL)
Coming Soon:  Fall 2012 Pilot Season
“Competitions Created and Optimized for Individuals”

Did you like playing in the Spring 2012 National Cyber League Pilot?  Did you hear about the NCL and become interested in participating?  Then you won’t want to miss the second NCL season, October 1st through early December.  More info and opportunities to register will be coming soon at www.nationalcyberleague.org, but get ready and save the dates!
The Fall 2012 NCL Pilot Season will be will based on the CompTIA Security+ performance-based exam objectives, a widely recognized and adopted curriculum and certification.

NCL will host 16 virtual preparatory lab exercises, which students can use to develop and practice hands-on skills for the competitions and the Security+ certification exam - akin to conditioning in athletics, practicing layups and free-throws in the gym.

NCL will also host a Regular Season, comprised of 3 competitions, the weekends of October 13th, October 27th and November 10th.  To continue the athletic analogy, we are now moving to the playing fields and competing.  Competitions will be created and optimized for individuals and designed to provide hands-on experiences and challenges to help students develop and improve cyber-security skills and problem-solving abilities.  They will all be conducted remotely, in virtual cyber-stadiums, equally accessible to all.

At the end of the Regular Season, the top 10 individuals in each of the three NCL Conferences will qualify for the NCL Championship, which will be held the weekend of December 1st, 2012.

Keep checking the NCL portal at www.nationalcyberleague.org for updates and info from last season.  If you have questions in the meantime, contact NCL Commissioner, Dr. Dan Manson, at dmanson@csupomona.edu.  This is going to be fun!
