CompTIA: Finding a sustainable career in IT

[JBJ:  This is an excellent read, full of valuable information for ICT educators and workforce development professionals]

Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicate that growth in IT-related positions will significantly outpace job growth in other fields. These IT positions promise family-sustaining wages and upwardly mobile career paths. To help address the IT worker shortage, the Creating IT Futures Foundation -- the philanthropic arm of CompTIA -- launched in 2012 an intensive training and job-placement program called the IT-Ready Apprentice Program in two pilot cities. At the end of the program's inaugural year, 72% of IT-ready graduates were working full time in IT-related positions -- a higher-than-average job-placement rate for sector-based workforce-development programs.
