Prepare for the Future Today - Special IEEE Computer Society Student Member Benefit

With the explosion of data volume and variety that organizations are grappling with worldwide, skills and expertise in data management are in great demand. A new NetApp and IEEE Computer Society educational alliance now makes it possible for IEEE-CS student members to complete the NetApp Certified Storage Associate (NCSA) certification for the special, nominal price of $100 (regularly $1,950).

IEEE-CS members serving as faculty at accredited institutions may also participate in this program; contact kguillemette@computer.org for details.

The offer includes access to NetApp’s web-based data storage courses, self-paced lab sessions, and a voucher to sit for the proctored exam at a Pearson VUE testing center.

Courses include:

· Storage Fundamentals
· Virtualization Technology Fundamentals
· Introduction to NetApp Products
· Data ONTAP 7-Mode Fundamentals
· Clustered Data ONTAP Fundamentals
· Basic NetApp Configuration and Administration Self-Paced Lab Part 1
· Basic NetApp Configuration and Administration Self-Paced Lab Part 2

The NetApp Certified Storage Associate (NCSA) certification provides students with a unique educational opportunity in the data storage field. Students will have an opportunity to learn the basics of storage systems and technologies and get hands-on experience working with industry-leading data management software and tools.

The NCSA includes a set of five web-based courses with approximately 18-20 hours of instructional time; it also includes five hours of lab work that are delivered virtually.

To complete the certification, candidates will sit for a proctored exam at a local Pearson VUE testing center. The registration fee includes a voucher to sit for the exam.

A recent study by Cisco found that by the end of 2014, the number of mobile-connected devices will exceed the number of people on earth, and there will be over 10 billion mobile-connected devices by 2018, including machine-to-machine (M2M) modules. More importantly, by 2018 more than half of all traffic from mobile-connected devices (almost 17 exabytes) will be offloaded to fixed networks.[1] Capturing, managing, and protecting the data generated by these devices is one of the next great challenges in enterprise computing, and learning the basics of storage and data management is a great way to prepare and round out your expertise.

The IEEE-CS Certification and Professional Education Program is very pleased to work with NetApp in offering this exceptional learning opportunity. In addition to the education, students who successfully complete the exam will enhance their job qualifications and credentials for employment.

Registrations must be completed by June 30, 2014.
