2014 C-STEM Day, May 31st

This year's C-STEM Day, a day allowing students to show off their skills in programming, robotics and math, will be on May 31. The event is a culminating experience for students who have been working with curricula developed by the UC Davis Center for Integrated Computing and STEM Education with support from the National Science Foundation. The day's events will include three competitions. In the RoboPlay Video competition teams of students produce and submit original videos using their robots. Competitors in the RoboPlay Challenge Competition will be presented with a series of problems to solve by applying their knowledge of robotics, math, design and their programming skills. The Math Programming Competition allows students to showcase their skills in computing and algebra by solving math-based problems.  In honor of C-STEM Day's fourth year, the event has expanded beyond UC Davis to include an event in Orange County at UC Irvine, with the assistance of Coastline ROP.

The event, held at the UC Davis Pavillion and at the UC Irvine Donald Bren School of Information & Computer Sciences, runs from 8:30am to 5pm and is open to the public.

C-STEM Becomes a UC Approved Educational Preparation Program for Undergraduate Admission

C-STEM will be added as an option for new undergraduate applicants to select as a UC approved educational preparation program, commencing fall 2015 for all UC campuses. Participating in C-STEM is an enriching experience with the UC academic rigor for K-14 students. As a UC  approved educational preparation program, C-STEM student and team awards are now also recognized in the UC admissions process as achievements that have explicitly prepared students for college and career.   The UC online application will open up on August 1, 2014  for fall 2015 applicants to begin completing the application.

2014 GIRL Leadership Camp, August 4-8th

The C-STEM GIRL Camps, held on college campuses, are focused on motivating girls in middle school to learn computing and STEM concepts through a fun and exciting robotics-based curriculum. We hope this leadership camp will enable them to serve as leaders and inspire other young girls to gain interest in science and technology through creating robotics clubs on their school campus and participating in the RoboPlay Competition on the C-STEM Day.  The camp participants are eligible for the Girl’s Leadership Award
