CA Career Cafe: Prepare for Change

It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent; it is the one that is most adaptable to change."

Prepare for Change

Did you know?

Change may be the most important life skill. Whether it is personal or professional change, to thrive in today’s world students must understand the dynamics of change and develop an open, optimistic and proactive attitude to it.  In a world where jobs are scarce and short-lived, students/employees must realize that to stay competitive, they will need a career strategy that drives them to continually learn and improve their skills and knowledge. When students learn to expect, embrace and plan for change they can take advantage of the ever-shifting landscape and make the most of new opportunities. Get your students to focus on their ability to handle change with this quick and easy activity.

Do this…

  • Ask questions about change…
What big changes have you seen in the world in the last 5 years?
How do you think change will impact your career?
  • View video.
  • Distribute Student activity, review and complete.
  • Discuss results of students’ change quiz.
  • Share response to question: What’s the smartest change you’ve ever made?
