The
Oracle Academy is offering free professional development and curriculum that
will enable educators to teach students object-oriented programming using Java,
one of the world’s top programming languages used by 9 million
developers.
Train
to Teach Two Semesters: Java Fundamentals and Java Programming
This
two-part course introduces the Java Programming Language using a collection of
integrated development environments designed to interest and excite students.
Basic computer science concepts are introduced using animations and
games. Java programming language tools are then integrated to simplify
the transition from a graphical user interface into direct Java coding.
- No previous programming experience is required.
- Highly structured curriculum integrates easily into
your computer science program.
- Curriculum is designed to prepare students for the AP
Computer Science A exam and for Oracle Java certification.

We have two training opportunities in California this fall:
San
Diego, CA
- Virtual training runs September 24 - December 14, 2012
(12 weeks) online.
- Virtual training is followed by 3 days of in-class
training from January 8 - 10, 2013 at San Diego City College.
- Registration deadline is September 14, 2012.
Redwood
Shores, CA (near Oracle Headquarters)
- Virtual training runs October 1 - December 21, 2012 (12
weeks) online.
- Virtual training is followed by 3 days of in-class
training from January 17 - 19, 2013 at the San Mateo Office of Education
STEM Center and will include an on-site visit to Oracle Headquarters.
- Registration deadline is September 21, 2012.
Cost:
- There is no cost for the professional development or
the course materials.
- Participant costs include travel and accommodations for
the 3-day training event in San Diego or Redwood Shores.
