Black Girls CODE Announces the 2012 Summer of Code

Greetings BGC friends, supporters, and collaborators!

We are very excited to announce the launch of BlackGirlsCODE's 2012 Summer of Code Campaign.  Starting on June 17th we will start this ambitious project with the goal of teaching computer programming to 300 boys and girls of color, in 90 days, in 7+ cities across the US!  This adventure will take us from San Francisco to Oakland, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, St. Louis, and Las Vegas as we deliver one and two-day workshops to students ages 7-17.  We will culminate the summer with two week-long summer camps in San Francisco and Oakland.

To help us support the workshops this summer we are hosting an Indiegogo Fundraising Campaign to supplement the expenses that we will incur during our Summer of Code, to build a mobile computer lab, and to seed a scholarship fund for girls attending our summer programs.  As key supporters we ask that you help us by offering your support by way of a donation to our Indiegogo campaign and by spreading the word about our project among your various networks.  Please visit this link to view and support our campaign on Indiegogo and visit our website; BlackGirlsCode to receive frequent updates as our summer unfolds and to check the scheduled dates of upcoming classes.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of our very important work.

With gratitude,

~Kimberly
