802.11ac WiFi at 1Gbps to ship 1 Billion Devices by 2015

"In a report issued Feb. 8, In-Stat analysts expects the number of devices that support the 802.11ac WiFi standard will grow to almost 1 billion by 2015, driven by the ever-pressing demand for more speed. The 802.11ac standard will provide up to 1 Gigabit network speeds..."

(Service providers will not likely implement the technology with that capacity, and users won't get the full benefits of those speeds, because most wired connections into homes and businesses are still choked at low speeds.)
